Cathy clattered down the warehouse stairs, struggling to put on her coat at the same time. She dashed past the notice board, pausing only to release the door catch, and a flyer settled at her feet. As she hurried to pin it back on to the board, the title caught her eye.

There were details of a competition but she’d look at it on Monday. The hell of choosing an outfit for Bath would expand to fit all the space available.
She ran to the bus stop through pouring rain. The bus was packed, but she squeezed on, ending up wedged between a pram and two men in conversation.
“I heard that Damien Hirst will be there,” said the taller of the two.
“Of course he will darling,” the other, shorter man replied. “He’s a fiend for canapés. Besides, I’ve heard that everyone will be there.”
